A Car Crash Leads To A Shooting Investigation And An Arrest

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – We now know the victim’s name in a Lowndes County shooting investigation.

Coroner Greg Merchant says the victim is 26-year old Tymechi-Ali Lachil Spann of Macon.

A car crash involving a gunshot victim leads to the arrest of the suspected shooter.

The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department says Stevie Moody is in custody for the shooting.

The investigation started after a three car crash happened on Lehmberg Road and Greentree Drive Saturday morning.

Columbus police and Lowndes County deputies both responded and found one of the drivers suffering from a gunshot wound.

The driver was taken to Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Hospital where he died.

Chief Deputy Marc Miley says that’s when deputies learned about a domestic assault at Greentree Apartments.

Once investigators arrived, they found a female, needing medical attention, who said she’d been assaulted by an ex-boyfriend.

This is an ongoing investigation.
