Toyota Wellspring Education Fund now at $51 million
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi celebrated 10 years of supporting public education throughout Pontotoc, Union and Lee counties.
A celebration marking the tenth anniversary of the “Toyota Wellspring Education Fund” was held at the BancorpSouth Arena.
That party was held at the end of day two of the “Imagine the Possibilities Career Expo.” The interactive career fair for area eighth-graders was one of the many projects made possible by the Toyota Wellspring Education Fund.
Toyota agreed to put $5 million into the fund every year for 10 years.
The fund is managed by the CREATE Foundation and now totals 51 million dollars.
“I think it’s important for us because we want to see the children of our employees get a good education but we are also looking for employees in the future for Toyota and our suppliers in the community and we also want to be good corporate partners with the community so we enhance the lives of everybody who lives in the communities where we all live and work and play and have fun,” said Emily Lauder, vice president of administration for TMMMS.
The fund is administered by the Toyota Educational Endowment Fund Advisory Committee.
