Warriors Ready For Title Rematch
NANIH WAIYA, Miss. (WCBI) — Nanih Waiya’s magical season came to an end in heartbreaking fashion in 2017 at the hands of Hollandale-Simmons.
The Blue Devils outlasted the Warriors 22-20 in last year’s 1A state championship game.
54-straight teams have suffered a similar state, and the Blue Devils look to win a fourth straight title.
Nanih Waiya was the last team to push Simmons to a one-score football game, and they’re ready for the challenge again.
“They are really good, well coached, very fast on both sides of the football,” Warriors head coach James Courtney said, “We’ve got to stay in front of the chains to have a chance. We can’t get penalties and negative plays, and on defense we have got to prevent the big play, make them drive the field to score.
“Our kids are excited about the challenge, and to be the best you’ve got to beat the best, and that’s what our goal is.”
