Derma Mayor, Dock Gabbert, has passed away due to COVID-19
DERMA, Miss. (WCBI) – Derma and Mississippi’s longest-serving mayor has died.
Dock Gabbert passed away early this morning at Baptist Golden Triangle in Columbus.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant confirmed the passing.
Gabbert was first elected in 1969. He was serving in his 14th straight term.
Gabbert says he first ran for office to get the town a sewer system.
He had been battling COVID-19.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
