‘Hope Continues 5K’ Will Take Place, With Many Safeguards
TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – A popular race that raises money for breast cancer screening and community education will take place at the end of this month.
The “Hope Continues 5K” is set for October 31st at Fairpark. This year, there will be a lot of changes.
Participants are required to wear face masks in Fairpark and at the starting line. Also, there will be no stage, and no booths to keep people from congregating.
However, the race’s founder says it is important to hold the event because of the many local people it helps who have trouble affording mammograms prescription assistance and other preventative care.
“This year, more than ever, the event is important, due to the lack of funds that have been put into these areas, also a lot of women have lost their jobs and lost their health benefits this year, so we really need to step up and try to raise as much as possible to try and take care of the women in our community,” said Adam Morris, founder of “Hope Continues 5K”
For more information, you can go to the “Hope Continues 5K” Facebook Page. The race starts at 7 30 October 31st at Fairpark. The race replaces the Komen 5K that was discontinued when Komen closed its office in the area.
