Remnants of Laura exit, chances for storms continue

Even as the remnants of what was Hurricane Laura continue to exit the area, chances for rain and storms will continue for the next several days. This will help to keep our temperatures close to normal with highs near 90. Rain chances will gradually lower going toward next weekend.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Chances for showers and storms continue overnight tonight, but slowly dwindle as we get closer to sunrise. Generally, the threat for severe weather and tornadoes will be gone after 9 pm. Lows will be in the mid 70s as we stay mild and muggy. Winds will remain breezy out of the southwest.

SATURDAY: While most of Laura will be gone by Saturday, there will still be a chance for some pop-up storms through the afternoon. Overall though, the day isn’t looking too bad. We’ll be hot and humid with highs in the low 90s.

SUNDAY-MONDAY: Chances for storms will fire up once again for Sunday and Monday with a 60%-70% chance for rain each day. Some storms could bring some gusty winds, but we’re not expecting anything too major. Highs will be in the low 90s with lows in the mid 70s.

TUESDAY-WEDNESDAY: We’ll maintain chances for storms through the middle of the week, but coverage won’t be quite as widespread. Everyone still has the chance to see a quick downpour or a few rumbles of thunder. Afternoon highs will be in the low 90s with morning lows still in the low to mid 70s.

THURSDAY-FRIDAY: A few more afternoon pop-up storms will be possible to end the week as a cold front approaches the area. Rain chances will stay at about 30%-40% for Thursday and Friday before things look to dry out going into the weekend. We’ll be hot and humid with highs in the low 90s.
