Chickasaw County deputy passes away from injuries from on-duty wreck

CHICKASAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Chickasaw County is in mourning after a deputy passes away from an on-duty car accident.

Deputy Jeremy Voyles died Wednesday morning at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo from injuries he received in the crash.

The single-car crash happened Tuesday just after 6 p.m. on County Road 4 in Houlka. An agent with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics was in the car with Deputy Voyles when it crashed.

Deputy Voyles had been with the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Department for four years. He had previously worked as an officer with the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

Chickasaw County Sheriff James Meyers said Deputy Voyles will be greatly missed and the department’s prayers and heart go out to the family.
