COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg recently set off a national debate about the role and success of women in business. On Tuesday, the Columbus Lowndes Chamber of Commerce hosted a panel of powerful business women right here in the Golden Triangle.
The Power House Women In Business panel featured women from various industries to share their journey in the business world. The women in attendance came from all walks of life, hoping to gain some insight about succeeding in business.
Vice President of Lowndes County LINK Brenda Lathan says there is a great deal of opportunity in the community.
“The Link is a good resource for people who want to start a business or for people who are in business. We have so much information that we can share with them,” says Lathan.
The panelists included entrepreneurs and executives discussing topics like work-life balance, gender bias and marketing techniques. The discussion emphasized learning how business works, becoming an expert in your field and finding mentors.
“I want future business women to network #1. It’s so vital to network with other women who are doing what you want to do or who’ve been where you’re trying to go,” says Lathan.
The Columbus Lowndes Chamber of Commerce hosts a seminar to its members in the Fall and Spring each year.
