Shaw Pit Bull Rescue hosting Celebrity Wait Night
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A local rescue group dedicated to saving abused, abandoned or neglected pit bull terriers hopes you can help them expand.
“Shaw Pit Bull Rescue” is hosting its first-ever Celebrity Wait Night to raise money to help with the construction of a new site.
The group will move to Old New Hope Road in Lowndes County, going from a half an acre to six acres of workspace.
Workers said they have rescued more than three dozen dogs from fighting cases over the past three years, rehabilitated them, and placed them with families.
“We take in anywhere from 200 to 500 a month in requests from local area shelters, other rescues, individuals, Facebook phone calls. There no way for us to even count all of them, but because we’re the only one in the state of Mississippi, people know they’re safe with us,” said Dana McDonald, with Shaw Pit Bull Rescue.
The wait night will be held Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Jackson Square Grill in Columbus.
The event will also feature a silent auction of Shaw merchandise.
