Weather affecting search for missing Clay County man
CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Weather has played a big role in the search for a missing Clay County man.
David Box has been missing since early New Year’s Day.
Several agencies have been working together to search Houlka Creek, in northern Clay County.
High waters and flooded roads have not helped the situation.
Box’s vehicle has been found but there’s been no sign of him.
Sheriff Eddie Scott said as the water recedes the search will pick up.
“It has been a limited search because of the floodwaters. Right now, it seems like the water is dropping about six inches, every 12 hours, but it’s still well above flood level. So, it’s creating problems in being able to get boots in the water. Now, we’ve been able to still continue using the drones, boats, and have actually been out there in kayaks floating around. Until the water starts dropping significantly more than what it is right now, we’re kind of limited on that,” said Sheriff Scott.
If you have any information about where Box might be tonight, call the Clay County Sheriff’s Department.
