Water Valley Shooting Suspect Takes Own Life
WATER VALLEY, Miss. (WCBI) — Water Valley Police are piecing together the alleged altercation that led to two shootings Saturday night, including the death of a suspected gunman.
Water Valley Police Chief M.W. King says that at about 10 p.m. Saturday at a private party being at Doc’s Table, Calvin Alford Jr. ran into the party and shot Bobby Hervey twice and then fled the scene. The chief says that shooting apparently stemmed from an earlier dispute between the two men.
Water Valley police officers caught up with Alford nearby on Railroad Street, but Alford turned the gun on himself and shot himself.
Both men were air lifted to the Med in Memphis.
Alford died later that night but miraculously, Hervey is reported in stable condition today after suffering two gunshot wounds.
