A Lowndes County Man Will Remain in Jail
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-A Lowndes County man remains in prison after the state Court of Appeals rejects his claims that he was wrongly convicted of trying to entice a child into sex. In August 2011, a Lowndes County Circuit Court jury found 33 year-old Tommie Harris Jr. guilty of sending sexually suggestive text messages to his girlfriend’s daughter when the girl was 14. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison with 10 years suspended and fined $5,000 dollars. Harris appealed, saying there was not enough evidence to show he actually tried to entice the girl. The appeals court denied those arguments.
