‘Tupelo Transit’ On The Road
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- Tupelo’s public transportation system is up and running.
“Tupelo Transit” began its service to the public Tuesday morning. There are three fixed routes with bus stops for passengers.
The buses run continuously from 5:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
There is also an on demand service that will pick passengers up and take them to a specific location, with advance notice.
Passengers on day one say they appreciate the service.
“It’s easier for people to commute, you know, just like me, I was walking, coming to see my dad at the hospital, caught a ride to get on the bus,” said Javantist Woods, of Tupelo.
During September there is no fee for the bus service.
In October, passengers will pay $2 a person for the bus ride.
