Alabama man accused of taking minor across state lines for sex

OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) – An investigation started by Oxford Police has led to the arrest of an Alabama man on charges of taking a minor across state lines for sex.

Timothy Vickers of Wetumpka, Alabama is facing federal charges for his relationship with a 13-year-old child.

The federal case said Vickers approached the teen on Snapchat and Tinder and convinced her to meet him in Tupelo.

The FBI said Vickers then took her to Wetumpka stopping along Interstate 22 to have sex during the June 7th trip.

The pair were located at a Wetumpka store where the teen was reunited with her mother.

A federal judge Wednesday ordered Vickers to remain in federal custody.
