MUW Hires Alexander As Next Head Soccer Coach

COLUMBUS, Miss. (MUW Athletics) – The W Director of Athletics Jason Trufant and Owls Athletics are pleased to announce Louis Alexander as the new head coach of The W’s men’s soccer program.

Alexander comes to The W after spending one season as the head coach of the girls’ varsity soccer program at Henry W. Grady High School and three seasons leading the boys’ and girls’ varsity and junior varsity programs at Caledonia High School.

While at Caledonia, the programs with his leadership saw a combined record of 51-31-7 with four playoff appearances. The boys’ team had an overall record of 29-20-4 which included one district championship season and the girls were 22-11-3 with two successive district championship season. Under his direction, 22 players were named to All-District Teams.

“We are very excited to have Louis join the Owls family as our head men’s soccer coach,” stated Trufant. “His vast experience and success speak for itself. I have no doubt he will continue to elevate the tradition of excellence athletically and academically with our department and soccer program.”

Prior to becoming the head coach at Caledonia, Alexander spent two seasons as the assistant coach for both programs at Starkville Academy. During his time there, the Volunteers earned a winning record of 10-6 for the varsity team and the junior varsity team was undefeated.

As an athlete, Alexander played two seasons at East Mississippi Community College where he served mainly as a forward with midfield responsibilities. He started each game and earned the title of Leading Goal Scorer his sophomore year with a nine-goal record. For his effort, he was voted All-MACJC First team his freshman and sophomore year and was named teamed captain his sophomore year.

Alexander is originally from Kentish Town in Northwest London, England but he considers Caledonia, Miss. home. He is a 2011 graduate of Mississippi State University where he received his bachelor’s in kinesiology and sport pedagogy from Mississippi State University.
