Record amount of meth seized at home of convicted felon

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – An undercover investigation turned up a record amount of methamphetamine, cash and weapons at the home of a convicted felon.

Investigators with the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, U.S. Marshals and the SWAT Team served an arrest warrant for Edward Glenn Glass, 44, at a trailer on County Road 1199 in Plantersville.

Glass was wanted for a drug court violation dating back to 2015 and officers found cash, weapons and ten pounds of crystal meth, they say was ready to be sold.

“I’ve been doing this 38 years and this is the largest crystal meth seizure I’ve seen in Lee County, here, with this unit, it was a great bust, it was getting someone off the street and the drugs would be on the street and in the hands of people, said Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson.

The sheriff said agents had information from many sources in recent months that illegal drug activity was taking place at Glass’ residence.  A neighbor, who didn’t want to go on camera, said there was a lot of traffic, at odd hours at the trailer.

Also, Glass’ Dad, Wayne, said his son moved into the trailer behind his home about a year ago.

Although his Dad didn’t go on camera, he said he had warned his son time and time again about the perils of drug dealing.

Glass has been charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Sheriff Johnson saidGlass should be facing a lengthy stint in prison.

“Now it’s the job of the court to get this guy and see to it that we don’t deal with him anymore, that’s a lot of time where the system fails society many times by allowing these people to continue to get out and do their work, because as you can see, this guy is not going to change, he’s been a problem for a long time,” Sheriff Johnson said.

Justice Court Judge Chuck Hopkins set a $2 million for Glass.

Glass’ previous felony conviction was on a drug related charge.
