Baseball and softball to return to Lake Lowndes
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Baseball and softball will make a return to Lake Lowndes, after an agreement is reached.
Lowndes County supervisors signed off on an inter-local agreement with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks at their meeting this morning.
The county’s recreation department will use the ball fields and a concession stand.
Practices will be held on the fields, at first, and then a league will be created next year.
The 12-month lease allows the county some flexibility until some long range goals can be completed.

“I think that it’s a great thing for the county right now, especially with us trying to go forward with the construction of a sportsplex. This gives us a place to begin our leagues until that’s completed,” said Roger Short.
The total budget for leasing the property, maintenance and utilities is a little more than $25,000.
