CAFB: Main gate closed following “routine search”
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Main Gate of the Columbus Air Force Base was closed for almost two hours Tuesday afternoon.
A routine search at the CAFB main gate caused a dog to alert on a delivery truck around 1:15 p.m., resulting in the closure.
CAFB spokesman Sonic Johnson said the south gate remained open during the search.
Closing the gate is a precautionary procedure. Around 2:40 p.m. the delivery truck was cleared and the gate was reopened.
