Technology Camp Gives Students Real World Experience
BOONEVILLE, MISS. (WCBI) – Middle school and high school students are learning all about computers, technology and robotics at a camp hosted by NEMCC.
Participants in this week’s session are learning about computer coding, how technology is used in the workforce, and they are also building underwater robots.
This afternoon, the students were able to put their robots to the test. They had to maneuver the robots through an obstacle course.
Instructors and students say the camp is not only fun, but also challenging, with real world applications.
“I hope they get to explore different career opportunities such as engineering and technology,” said Instructor Jeffrey Powell.
“I’ve always wanted to do mechanical engineering whenever I get older and I felt like this would be a good thing to help me learn,” said Mason Stone, a participant in the camp.
The summer camps at NEMCC are funded through a grant by the Department of Human Services. There will also be after school activities at the Booneville, Corinth and New Albany campuses, as part of the “Youth Career Development Academies.”
