Workers at one local humane society say the day after, is the busiest for animal shelters.

Oktibbeha County Humane Society General Manager Christy Wells say they are slammed with people asking them to post paw alerts on July 5th.

Wells encourages pet owners to bring animals inside when the fireworks start, to make sure your pets don’t get frightened and run away.

She also says to take pictures of your pets and make sure their collars are on properly with their tag information up to date.
