Columbus P.D Nab One New Year’s Shooting Suspect
COLUMBUS, Miss. – (WCBI) Columbus police arrest one suspect and are looking for the other in a New Year’s Day shooting that left three people injured.
According to Chief Selvain McQueen, officers picked up 20-year old Davin Lamar Montgomery at his Columbus home Thursday afternoon.
Montgomery was booked on aggravated assault charges.
Meanwhile, they are still searching for 25-year old Lemarcus Demon Smith, who is wanted for aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
This comes just two days after an altercation involving gunfire was caught on camera.
The fight broke out around 1:39 a.m Tuesday morning.The surveillance footage was capture at the Sprint Mart gas station at 1313 Highway 69 South.
You can clearly see a brawl break out, involving up to 12 people. Punches turned into bullets, leaving three people injured.
Chief McQueen says his investigators are looking to make more arrests in this case.
” This is a random act of violence that will not be tolerated by the Columbus police department, nor the citizens of Columbus. That is quite evident by the outpouring of calls that we received in reference to this shooting,” says McQueen.
