Local Girl Scout Gives Surprise Gifts To Several Nursing Homes
AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) – Residents of several area nursing homes are getting surprise gifts from a local Girl Scout, who had an idea to help others, as she was selling the famous Girl Scout cookies.
Ten-year-old Kylie Hargroue has sold more than 1,700 boxes of Girl Scout cookies. While that is a huge accomplishment, she also took donations from her customers to brighten the lives of senior citizens.
Earliest this afternoon, March 13, Kylie and her mother visited an Amory nursing home, where she gave gifts to residents, and nurses. The gifts included calendars, crossword puzzle books, cologne and shampoo, and of course some Girl Scout cookies.
Kylie says she wanted to do something to bring some joy to the lives of the seniors.
“People at the nursing home, patients, some of them can’t hardly see their families and stuff so they get to get stuff and it might remind them of their family,” Hargroue said.
Kylie has a goal of selling 2018 boxes of Girl Scout cookies. She will be at Amory’s Piggly Wiggly Wednesday, and throughout other businesses through the deadline, this coming Sunday.
