Alabama Unemployment Slightly Drops
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WCBI) – Alabama’s unemployment rate is down to 3.7%.
The state released preliminary, seasonally adjusted numbers today, March 12, showing the jobless rate declined 1/10 of a percent in January, from the December rate of 3.8%.
The rate represents a record low, but it could be adjusted later.
Alabama’s unemployment rate is 3/10’s of a percent better than the U.S. jobless rate of 4.1%.
In our area, the jobless rate in Pickens County jumped, from 3.7% in December, to 4.7%.
Lamar County also saw a spike in its jobless figure, from 3.4%, to a little over 4%.
