Department of Public Safety settles deadly crash lawsuit

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Mississippi Department of Public Safety settles a lawsuit involving a deadly crash in Oktibbeha County.

Early on the morning of May 7, 2017 MSU track star Kaelin Kersh was killed in the accident.

Two others were also injured.

A state trooper was responding to a report of a vehicle leaving the highway.

He did not have his blue lights or a siren on at the time of the crash on Highway 182 and Old Mayhew Road.

Attorneys claim he also failed to yield to the vehicle Kersh was riding in.

The $500,000 settlement will be split between the Kersh estate, Tanequa Alexander and Noel Collier.
