Death Investigation Underway in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A death investigation is underway in Columbus.

Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton says a body was found at Luxapalila Creek, near the Waterworks Road bridge, Sunday afternoon.

He told WCBI that’s all the information he can release at this time.

CPD Investigators, the Lowndes County Coroner and the Columbus Forensic Lab were all on scene.

The cause of death hasn’t been released.
