Cinco de Mayo blood drive

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- With the Cinco de Mayo celebration tomorrow, an area blood service held a special blood drive Saturday.

Vitalant says May is a particularly busy month with the end of school, graduation and Memorial Day celebrations, donations typically decline, and usage goes up.

That is why Vitalant held a special blood drive today to be prepared for the holiday.

Donors received a 25-dollar Amazon gift card and a 10-dollar voucher to D’Casa.

Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16-years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.

Additional weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger.
