TigerWorks Camp gives glimpse into manufacturing careers
CORINTH, Miss. (WCBI) – A camp for grade school students and teenagers gives a glimpse into careers they could have one day in advanced manufacturing.
The annual “TigerWorks” Manufacturing Camp is taking place at the Corinth campus of Northeast Mississippi Community College.
Students will learn the basics of the business world, such as supply and demand, how to properly price an item and they will also have a chance to create a product.
“By the end of the week they’re going to do an invention and they will learn how to sell it and market it,” said career coach Jennalee Lyles.
“I like how, what we did with the businesses and how we should, we learned about how we could have our own business,” said student Sara Grace.
There is a heavy emphasis on manufacturing. Students will even get to run a forklift simulator, to see the skills needed to safely operate the machine. The camp runs through Thursday.
