Roadwork set for Lee County highway

LEE COUNTY (WCBI ) –  Work crews are set to start work Monday preserving a section of Highway 363 in Lee County.   The maintenance project will stretch from Saltillo city limits to the Itawamba County line.

“Pavement preservation is a proactive treatment placed on an existing pavement and designed to extend the life of the pavement. This operation will seal existing cracks to minimize moisture penetrating through the surface and then an aggregate driving surface,” said Melinda McGrath, P.E., MDOT executive director. “With limited funding available for maintaining the state highway system, pavement preservation treatments such as this are a necessity and are being used in across the nation successfully.”

During the operation, motorists are strongly encouraged to pay close attention to all signs, workers and equipment. Motorists should be prepared for delays and intermittent stops. Flagmen will be on site to direct traffic. MDOT urges motorists to slow down when approaching and moving through the work zone.
