‘Wavebots’ Put Tech Skills To The Test At Competitions

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A group of seventh and eighth graders at Tupelo Middle School has been putting in long hours building and programming a robot for competitions.

The TMS “Wavebots” is the robotics team at the middle school.  Recently, the teenagers have been to several competitions, where they test their skills.

Students say they enjoy the opportunity to learn about technology that they will use beyond high school and college.

“You get to solve a lot more problems instead of having to do something else, you can think outside the box,” said ‘Wavebots’ CEO Akshathh Mukkera.

“The future is now, we’re learning, getting experience in math, science and stem, that’s going to help us in our jobs and careers when we grow up,” said ‘Wavebots’ Robotics Specialist Claire Kenney.

The “Wavebots” have a couple more competitions this school year. They also have a host of businesses who sponsor their efforts.
