Video: UPDATE: Lauderdale Man Dies in Lowndes Co. Crash

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A fatal accident occurred on Highway 45 at Primrose Road in Lowndes County around 10:30 Wednesday morning.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant says a black 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 31-year-old Deon L. Herlong of Lauderdale, Miss. was traveling north on Highway 45 and stopped to attempt a left turn onto Primrose Road.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol says a 2005 International Tractor Trailer registered to Columbus Scrap Metal, driven by 36-year-old Jeremy Holliman of Millport, Ala., was also traveling north on Highway 45 and collided with the rear of the Tahoe.

Herlong was pronounced dead at the scene by Merchant.

Holliman was transported to BMH with minor injuries. This accident remains under investigation by the MHP.
