Pontotoc Teen Dies In Crash

Pontotoc County, Miss. (WCBI) – A Pontotoc High School senior dies after her car slammed into a tree Tuesday morning.

Macie Atkinson, 17, died at a local hospital.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol says the accident happened about 7:45 AM on Highway 336, near Airport Road.

Atkinson’s car ran off the road, then hit the tree.

State troopers say the teen was not wearing a seatbelt.

The accident remains under investigation.
