Former North Mississippi Catholic Priest Guilty of Child Sex Charges

UNDATED, Miss. (WCBI)-A Catholic Priest convicted last week in federal court of child sex charges, used to serve in North Mississippi.

72 year-old Reverend Robert “Bob” Poandl was found guilty in US District Court in Cincinnati of federal child sex charges.

He transported a 10 year-old Cincinnati boy to a church in Spencer West Virginia in August 1991 where he sexually assaulted the child in the church’s rectory.

Poandl served as a priest from 1968 to 1973 in Catholic churches in Aberdeen, Amory, Okolona, Houston, and Fulton.

A letter was sent out in March 2011 by Bishop Joseph Latino advising parishioners of the allegations and to urge any victims to come forward.

So far no one has reported any sexual misconduct.
