4-County Outages Down To Less Than 100, About 20 for CL&W

PREESS RELEASE

4-County crews continue to repair damage and restore power to members following Monday’s severe weather. The storm system blew through the service territory late Monday afternoon causing widespread damage, especially in Noxubee and Lowndes Counties. At the height of the outages, 7,484 4-County members were without power, including 4,100 in Noxubee and 1,968 in Lowndes. Much of the issues in Noxubee County stemmed from downed Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) transmission lines which supply power to two 4-County substations. As of Tuesday morning, outages had been reduced to less than 100.

“We had crews working all night long to get power back on to our members”, said 4-County Manager of Operations Anthony Miller. “The continuing storms and heavy rain made for slow going, but our folks did an outstanding job”, said Miller. Miller adds that work will continue until all members have power who can take it. He anticipates that power will be restored to them by this afternoon.

Cliff Wall, manager of member services says damage includes 10-15 broken poles, mostly in Noxubee and Lowndes,  as well as lots of wire on the ground. “We know that the damage caused extended outages for some members and we appreciate their patience as we put it all back together,” said Wall.

As of about 11 a.m. Tuesday, Columbus Light and Water said it had about 20 customers without power scattered throughout the city. All power should be restored to homes that can accept power by the end of the day Tuesday, according to Columbus Light and Water manager Todd Gale.
