Babysitter Charged With Kidnapping Infant

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A babysitter is arrested for the kidnapping of a 5-month-old in Tupelo yesterday.

Kayla Mealer was with the infant around 7:30, Monday night, February 5.

But, early the next morning the mother couldn’t find her child or Mealer.

The mother made contact with Mealer, but reportedly wouldn’t bring the child back.

Roughly 2 hours later, Tupelo Police found Mealer at the Sprint Mart on Main Street and Veterans Boulevard.

Mealer is charged with Kidnapping.

Her bond is set at $50,000.

Fortunately, the child has been returned to the mother in good health.
