Columbus Teen Charged with Aggravated Assault with a Weapon

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-A teen finds himself behind bars after allegedly shooting two people and himself.

Yesterday officers responded to Baptist Memorial Hospital in reference to two people who had been shot.

Reportedly the shooting occurred on 1006 9th Street North.

20 year-old Elonzo Latham of Columbus was shot in the right arm and 22 year-old Demarco Curry of Columbus was shot in the left leg.

As officers were speaking with two victims a third victim came in with a shot wound to his hand.

Upon speaking with the third victim officers say they determined 19 year-old Dekota King was the shooter.

Police say the also recovered at 45 caliber handgun from King’s friends car who had driven King to the hospital.

King is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a weapon.

King’s bond is set for later.
