THRASHER, Miss. (WCBI) — LaMart Harvey continues to dream.
That dream though still remains to be accomplished during his time as head coach at Thrasher.
The Rebels were a top program back in the late 80’s, early 90’s as they made it to the playoffs four times in eight seasons. Since their playoff win in 1992, the Rebels have failed to make it back to the postseason.
The dream surrounds returning to the playoffs at Thrasher for coach Harvey and they’ll lean on their offense to try and get them there.
“Our offensive line and running backs will be very good,” Harvey said. “I think we’ll be very good in the backfield with Kendall Guy and Malek Justice. We don’t throw it much so our offensive line and running game will be our bread and butter.”
Thrasher has been on the cusp of making it into the postseason in recent seasons.
Each of the last four years, the Rebels have finished with five victories to their name. While that kind of success has never been seen in school history, the focus is getting over the hump and keeping the team healthy.
“Our first eleven can compete with anyone on our schedule,” Harvey said. “If we get anybody hurt we’ll be in trouble.
“I think we can compete in our division and our goal is to make the playoffs. We haven’t been there in over twenty years so that’s our motto.”
The Rebels will start the season at home versus New Site before hitting the road for games at Potts Camp and East Union.
