LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — State Championship number nine remains the goal at Louisville.

The Grind for Nine quest continues into the 2015 season at Louisville High School.

After their State Title in 2013, the Power Cats went 9-5 a season ago and made it to the 3A North half semifinals.

That team was senior heavy, but that doesn’t mean this year’s team won’t be loaded and talented.

“This team will be a real good team,” head coach MC Miller said. “We have most of the guys back from last year and they’re all working hard. The linebackers and receivers plus our corners are pretty good. We’re trying to keep them going. We’re just trying to get our defensive and offensive lines together. If we do that, we’ll have a pretty good team.”

It is a very good team returning for the Wildcats, as Brody Burchfield takes over as the leader under center for Louisville.

The senior signal caller will take the Cats back into Class 4A this upcoming season, and Coach Miller believes his team is well equipped for the challenge.

“We just have to move up and play a little bit harder,” Miller said. “4A is tougher than 3A. There are tougher teams in 4A. We’ve been in it before, but we know we’ll have to battle Noxubee County every year in our division to get to a State Championship. That’s our goal is to work to get to a State Title.”

Louisville returns a strong defense for 2015 and has plenty of quick, shifty skill position players.

Those players were young last year, and the hope is they will grow up and have the Wildcats competing for a State Title this season.

“These guys are growing up pretty well,” Miller said. “Louisville is a football town. Everybody loves Louisville and football. The fans and community are behind you. The kids know how to play good football and it’s not hard to boost them up. Get them on the field and you’ll be ready to go. They have a willing attitude and they hustle and do a good job. They’re really hard workers.”

Louisville will start the season with back to back home games against New Hope and West Point before traveling to face Kemper County the following week.
