PHEBA, Miss. (WCBI) — Hebron Christian may be on to something for 2015.
The Eagles graduated just one senior from their (6-4) team a season ago, which gives head coach David Foster reason to believe that Hebron can make it places with their experience.
“We have a senior laden team this year,” coach Foster said. “We don’t have a big team as far as numbers but we’re predominantly a senior team. They’ve had all the experience and time to get there and they’ve worked hard so I’m expecting big things from them.”
The new 8-man single-A division in MAIS pits Calhoun, Central and Kemper Academies in the same division.
It’s a tough, hard-nosed district that won’t make it easy on Hebron in 2015 but with the likes of Channing Tapley and Landon Hill returning for the Eagles, the postseason and beyond is the benchmark.
“The playoffs are always the goal and we want to win the division and be guaranteed a playoff spot,” Foster said. “You have to be first in the district, second place is not guaranteed in the playoffs so that’s our goal is to make it to the postseason.”
Hebron has a grueling start to the season as they host the defending 8-man State Champions from Sharkey-Issaquena then visit Delta Streets the following week.
