2014 High School Football Tour: Thrasher
THRASHER, Miss. (WCBI) — The Thrasher Rebels football program has come quite a long way since LaMart Harvey has come on.
From 1996-2002, Thrasher won just one game during that time period.
Today, the Rebels are continuing to fight to make it into the playoffs with an inexperienced team returning for head coach LaMart Harvey.
“It’s going to be a tough year since we will be so young,” coach Harvey said. “We just want to compete every game. Let the guys go out and do their best and let the chips fall where they may.”
Thrasher has turned in 3 straight years of .500 or better in their overall record, something that hasn’t been done since the early 1990’s.
With a tough Region 1-1A division looming, coach Harvey is telling his kids that anything can happen.
” A couple injuries here or there and the division is wide open,” Harvey said. “We have good players in the division from Coffeeville, Falkner, Smithville, Hamilton. But one moment or one injury can change the whole division around.”
Thrasher will start the season on the road at New Site before having two bye weeks before the division schedule kicks off on the road at Smithville.
