Houston Ankle Monitors

CHICKASAW, Miss. (WCBI) – If you commit a crime in Houston chances are you may get an ankle bracelet for the holidays.

Chickasaw County Youth Court has put it’s first ankle bracelets on three juveniles recently convicted. We’re told they’re hoping these electronic monitors will put a stop to juvenile crime.

Those sentenced to receive the monitors, are told when and where they can be at all times.

Violators of the bracelets… by tampering or going outside their electronic perimeter are sent to the juvenile facilities in Tupelo.

We’re told using the ankle monitors cost the city only ten dollars per day, while keeping the youngster in a detention center can cost up to 100 dollars a day.
