WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – The city of West Point is expected to be more energy efficient when it comes to conserving energy used in seven of it’s city owned buildings.
City officials in the Point City are expecting to see as much as ten to twenty percent savings as they prepare to control more carefully the time of day and temperature range in which they do the city’s business on a daily basis.
The plan is part of a $5.8 million project that also is replacing electrical and water meters in the city.
City Hall, police department, public works building, and the civic center are among the seven building becoming more energy efficient.
“The energy savings should pay for the Siemens operation to put the controls that allows that. We will have a central computer that we will maintain the time of day and the temperature setting for each building,” said Dwight Prisock, West Point Water & Light.
The portion of the project making the city of West Point more energy efficient, should be on line in January.
