NETTLETON, Miss. (WCBI) – The City of Nettleton wants to look good.
That’s why inmates from the Monroe County jail were among the volunteers who took part in Saturday’s city wide cleanup.
Mayor Jimmy Taylor says keeping his town clean is always a priority, but it is especially so right now.
“Of course we want to clean the town up but we’re preparing for Nettleton’s 125th birthday celebration which is about this same time next Saturday,” Taylor said. “We hope that we can some of you folks out for that. We’re going to have a big deal downtown.”
After a hard morning of work, the volunteers gathered at the First Baptist Church for some hamburgers and hotdogs.
Taylor says keeping Nettleton clean is also good in attracting both businesses and potential residents to the community.
