TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- Some Tupelo area residents took advantage of a program that allows the safe disposal of no longer needed over the counter and prescription drugs.
They brought them to this drop off point in the parking lot of the new police headquarters on Front Street that has yet to open its doors.
The Drug Take Back is a partnership between the Tupelo Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
Sergeant Katarsha White is with the Tupelo PD’s Community Oriented Policing Division.
She says there are several good reasons to get rid of unwanted drugs.
White says the drugs collected today will be turned over to the DEA for proper disposal.
She says they conduct these drug take backs twice a year, one in the fall and one in the spring.
