Video: Area Students Build Catapults, Use Them In Competition
OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI-TV) – Students from all over the state built and used catapults in a contest Thursday in Oxford.
The University of Mississippi was the host for the 11th annual Catapult Competition. Middle and high school students got a chance to test their engineering skills. They had to knock down specific targets with their catapults in the contest.
“They learn much easier with a hands-on activity,” Mary Vickers, of Hinds Central Academy, said. “This is an exciting way to understand and put to use the concepts that we talk about in the classroom.”
Teams from Tishomingo County High School won first and second place. A team from Oxford High placed third.
