Teen Drowns In Pond

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A teenager drowns in a pond near the Clay/Chickasaw County line.

Clay County Coroner Alvin Carter tells WCBI Keiyana Virges, 16, was wading in the pond Thursday evening at a relative’s home on Highway 389 in Woodland.

Virges was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point where she was pronounced dead.

Carter says the death has been ruled an accidental freshwater drowning.
