Oxford Schools Still Rebounding From Cyber Attack
OXFORD, MS ( WCBI) – Slow but steady is the best way to describe the Oxford School District’s effort to recover from a devastating cyber attack. Every server in the district had to be taken off line Sunday when a ransomware attack seized control of the district’s computer and network systems. Superintendent Brian Harvey says things will be back to normal but that parents will just need to be patient while the district is making certain everything is restored correctly.
“First, we want to thank everyone for truly being patient during the ransomware situation while our IT department works diligently to restore our servers and online services. Right now, some of the district’s online services—PowerSchool and Schoology—are up and running. We are continuing to work on bringing other school services online one at a time. There is no way to put a deadline as to when everything will be completely restored for our school district, but we are confident in saying that we are addressing the issues as quickly as we can. Because of the ransomware attack, our communication channels with parents, students and community members are limited at this time. That’s why we cannot thank you enough for your patience and support during this time.”
