Inmate found dead in cell in Greene County prison

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – An inmate serving 10 years at the South Mississippi Correctional Institution for robbery attempt is dead.

The Mississippi Department of Corrections said 50-year-old William Sharp was found unresponsive in his cell Saturday at the Greene County prison.

According to the county coroner, there were no signs of foul play.

An autopsy will determine the official cause and manner of death.

Sharp was convicted and sentenced Sept. 25, 2018 in Grenada County.
