Car Fire Spreads to Apartment

MACON, Miss. (WCBI-TV) – A fire in Macon is under investigation.

It happened overnight Tuesday near Highway 45 and Prairie Point Road, at the Cedar Heights Apartment complex.

A neighbor called after seeing a vehicle in a carport on fire.

From there, the fire spread to another car, and then to the attic of an apartment

Firefighters had to tear the ceiling out of the kitchen to reach the flames.

The roof of the building is completely destroyed.

Macon Fire Chief William Whitehead says he believes the fire started in the engine of the vehicle.

A family of four was home at the time.  But no injuries were reported.
