Saturday Evening Forecast & TS Isaac

Posted by Maddie Kirker | August 25, 2012 / 08:28pm | Weather
Our Saturday consisted of gloomy skies with a few rain showers. Some folks received near an inch of rain in Chickasaw, Webster & Calhoun Counties.

Tonight: Clouds will be on the increase overnight. Expect skies to be mostly cloudy and lows to drop into the upper 60s. Rain may enter our southern counties later this evening before the cluster near Jackson runs out of energy.

Sunday: We'll see partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies across the viewing area Sunday. Chance of a shower or storm is around 20 percent. Highs will be in the upper 80s to near 90 in most locations.

Tropical Storm Isaac: As of this evening, the NHC (National Hurricane Center) has positioned the track of Isaac towards the central coastline of the gulf. With models tracking anywhere between Gulfport, MS to the St. Augustine, FL the NHC is taking the middle of the road option at this point.

One main issue we're concerned about, is how strong Isaac could possibly become once conditions become more favorable for it's intensification. Further intensification will be based on how much interaction it has with land this weekend. Issac may not become a Hurricane until it reaches the Eastern Gulf by early next week.

I want to stress that if you have relatives along the MS or AL coast, you may want to give them a heads up. Isaac could easily intensify to a Category 2 Hurricane, which may cause serious issues along the coast.
