COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Triangle Maintenance Service, LLC celebrated the renaming of their recycling and waste division, BluBox, at a ribbon cutting ceremony at their recycling plant in Columbus. Approximately three years ago Triangle Maintenance took over the recycling contract for the city and placed it's free drop boxes throughout the Golden Triangle.
The renaming of the division to BluBox came from listening to what their customers were calling them. "When I started working with Triangle Maintenance, I would tell people where I worked and they often did not know the name of our company, but when I told them I worked for the company with the big blue recycling boxes, it always clicked," stated Karen Stanley, Sales and Marketing Director for BluBox.
Within the past three years the company has invested in the community by building a 40,000-square-foot recycling facility and hiring additional staff to handle the increased interest in recycling in the Golden Triangle Area. They have partnered with many local businesses to take their companies "green". "I hear it from our clients every day, they are excited to finally have the opportunity to recycle here in Mississippi," stated Robert Pack, Sales Coordinator for BluBox Recycling.
BluBox Recycling is also the only recycling company in the state of Mississippi able to offer single stream recycling for LEED certified jobs. "Currently we are working with one LEED certified construction site in this area but we are also working with many of our roll off customers to help them divert their materials from the landfill and offering them a fixed cost disposal rate. Being able to budget waste expenses at a construction site is a huge plus to any contractor," stated Tim Howell, Environmental Manager for BluBox.
BluBox has once again been awarded the city contract for Lowndes County and continues to work with several other communities in the area to offer recycling services to their residents as well. In May of 2009, BluBox began offering residential curbside recycling services to the citizens of Lowndes, Oktibbeha, Clay and Noxubee Counties. With a little over 500 customers, the big BluBoxes at the ends of residents driveways are a sign of the changing times where being green is not something in the future but something that is being embraced right now.
